Haiku Smorgasbord
The random cacophony
Inside of my brain
***
Tangled ball of yarn
Each thought a different color
A beautiful mess
***
Where will this thread lead?
I cannot quite grasp the end
It rolls out of reach
***
Other thoughts fly by
Bouncing red rubber dodgeballs
Smack me in the face
***
I have given up
Bringing order to chaos
Let chaos now reign
***
These colorful threads
My cerebral silly string
Think it’s party time!
***
Who brought the glitter
And tossed it like pixie dust
Happy little thoughts
***
Other sloshing thoughts
Spill out of red solo cups
And on to the floor
***
They’re playing limbo
Wow! These thoughts can go THAT LOW?
Did not expect that
***
Oooh, there’s a cake walk
Endless walking in circles
Same song on repeat
***
Will this madness end?
I flop down dramatically
Amidst the fracas
***
I take a deep breath
Filling my belly with air
I let it out. One.
***
Air tickles my nose
On its way to my belly
Expand, contract. Two.
***
My lungs, twin balloons
Capture and release the air
A sigh escapes. Three.
***
Each breath is numbered
As I continue to breathe
Finding sweet stillness
***
Calm has been restored
How is my brain so quiet?
Shhhh. Just enjoy it.
